On 10 September 2022, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) youth members in the state of Selangor participated in a walking tour designed to build awareness of the consequences of climate change, particularly the increased risk of disastrous flooding. The activity was organized by the service center of Charles Santiago, a member of parliament for the Klang constituency. Together with some 50 Klang municipal councilors, NGO representatives and residents, SGM youth participants toured areas that are susceptible to climate-related flooding, including Taman Bayu Perdana and Taman Melawis. Both neighborhoods have a history of damaging floods.
