On 8 September 2024, the “Seeds of Hope and Action: Making the SDGs a Reality” (SOHA) exhibition was shown at University of Warwick in Coventry, UK. It was one of three events that made up the This is Our Age Peace Festival co-organized by SGI-UK and Warwick University. The festival had three themes—sustainability, nuclear disarmament and peace, and it was attended by Solihull Mayor Shahin Ashraf MBE.
The exhibition is a joint initiative of the Earth Charter International and SGI. It highlights how a single individual can initiate positive change and introduces a positive vision for sustainable living that can contribute to the realization of the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The festival’s second event and focus, titled “Hiroshima Peace Day,” featured a panel discussion under the theme “I Disarm Myself.” Panelists included Dr. Becky Alexis-Martin of the University of Bradford, a nuclear disarmament expert; Sanya Rajpal from the SGI Office of UN Affairs; and Kyoko Gibson, who shared her family’s experience as survivors of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Attendees also viewed a video message from Daniel Högsta, Deputy Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).
The festival’s third component was a family-friendly Peace Fayre featuring stalls, live music and creative and dialogue-based workshops.

On 28 November 2024, the SOHA exhibition also opened at Warwick University’s Faculty of Arts Building atrium, known as the Agora. The showing was supported by the Society & Culture Spotlight and Sustainability Spotlight, both interdisciplinary research platforms. Speakers at the opening included Professor Elena Korosteleva, Director of the Institute for Global Sustainable Development; Dr. Mouzayian Khalil of the Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development; and Justine Marchant, General Director of SGI-UK. Prof. Korosteleva commented on the exhibition, “It is not just about what we know; most tellingly, it is about what we do and what helps us to stay resilient in the face of adversity and crisis—our own agency!”
Alongside the exhibition launch, the Institute for Global Sustainable Development hosted a Climate Knowledge Production Café, an event designed to challenge and reimagine the way climate knowledge is produced and shared, as well as a panel discussion and a writing workshop.

These events were part of the This is Our Age initiative, which SGI-UK organized as a series of events leading up to the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of SGI’s founding on 26 January 2025.
The initial This is Our Age Festival took place on 16 March 2024 at SGI-UK’s national center, Taplow Court in Berkshire. The vibrant celebration centered on youth and combined music, dance, food, art, dialogue and connection-building workshops. It also featured the SOHA exhibition.
Then, on 15 June 2024, a large-scale event commemorating the 30th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Glasgow was held at the university, themed “Leave No One Behind: Humanistic Education for the Flourishing of Each Person.” The SOHA exhibition was also displayed.
The 8 September This is Our Age Peace Festival at Warwick University event was also part of this series.
