On 22 September 2024, SGI Philippines held Youth Peace Fairs at its culture centers in Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Davao to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the Declaration Calling for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons, made by the Soka Gakkai Second President Josei Toda. The events aimed to promote the importance of peace and foster friendship and unity within local communities.
At the different locations, participants played peace-related games that promoted closeness, friendship and unity and engaged in group discussions on peace. Also, the exhibition “Everything You Treasure—For a World Free From Nuclear Weapons,” jointly created by SGI and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, was displayed at the event in Manila.

The youth fairs were attended by a total of 500 people, and many shared that the events helped them build friendships within their communities and inspired them. One of the students who attended the event shared that she felt a sense of unity and purpose during the event while enjoying the fun activities and games. She was also moved by the passion and commitment shown by everyone, reminding her of the vital role that youth play in shaping our world. Overall, the event was a powerful reminder of the importance of advocating for peace.
