2017 Amplify Youth Summit Report
Following the “International Youth Summit for Nuclear Abolition” held in Hiroshima, Japan, from 28-30 August 2015, organized by SGI and other peace organizations, a youth network called “Amplify” emerged. The Amplify network aimed to unite youth working in the field of nuclear abolition from all over the world to create opportunities for future collaborations transcending strategic differences.
In June 2017, Amplify organized a 5-day Amplify Youth Summit with 16 representatives from 13 countries in New York, in the margins of the United Nations Conference to Negotiate a Legally Binding Instrument to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons, Leading Towards their Total Elimination, where the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was negotiated and adopted. This report includes some highlights and outcomes of the Amplify Youth Summit.
*Amplify concluded its activities in 2022.
