Narrated by Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep, and featuring interviews with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and other experts, the film’s primary message is that even one person’s action can make a dramatic difference.
This prize-winning film which was produced by the Earth Council in cooperation with UNDP and UNEP, and supported by SGI, introduces villagers in India restoring ancient traditions of rainwater conservation, citizens in Slovakia tackling chemical pollution and profiles the achievements of Wangari Maathai who started the Green Belt Movement and initiated a program through which women in Kenya have planted over 30 million trees and regained control over their lives. The film urges individuals to take up the challenge of becoming active protagonists in the struggle to create a peaceful, sustainable world.
