Mapting Introduced at UNESCO Conference on Education for Sustainable Development

  • Sustainability & climate change

On 17 May, Earth Charter International and SGI organized a side event to the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development. The online event titled “Sharing positive actions on the SDGs and the Earth Charter, with Mapting” introduced an engaging social media app, Mapting, that was co-produced by the Earth Charter International and the SGI. Mapting allows people to discover the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Earth Charter principles by sharing images of their sustainable actions and projects.

Carola Pedreschi from Miami Dade College (United States of America) and Randall Santamaría from Guaravito Sostenibilidad y Conservación (Costa Rica) shared their experiences using the Mapting app. SGI’s Alexandra Goossens-Ishii shared how Mapting embodies the fact that although our resources are finite, human potential is infinite. She also introduced SGI’s perspective of Mapting, which is based on the core belief that everything starts with the actions of one individual that can inspire a chain reaction of positive change.
