During the 47th regular session of the Human Rights Council (HRC47), Dr. Koumbou Boly Barry, the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education, presented her annual report on the cultural dimension of the right to education. On this occasion, Soka Gakkai International, on behalf of 24 members of the NGO Working Group on Human Rights Education and Learning (NGO WG on HREL), submitted a joint statement proposing to examine human rights education implementation in her forthcoming reports. Such a step would contribute to promoting, safeguarding, and implementing both the right to education and to human rights education for the direct benefit of young people and society as a whole. As the statement highlights: “[T]he right to education and human rights education are indivisible rights and are mutually reinforcing and advancement in each area promotes advancement in the other.”
