In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), the Culture of Peace for Gender Equality Initiative held its launch event. The initiative was born out of a parallel event during the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2025. It consists of a core group of 11 organizations.

With the belief that focusing on “prevention”–which addresses the root causes of violence and is concretized by the UN Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace–we can advance the WPS agenda. Through this initiative, we aim to serve as a beacon of hope to reignite an intergenerational movement for the culture of peace and demonstrate the power of each individual as agents of change.
